Çarsamba Teknik ve Kız Meslek Lisesi
Samsun/Turkey
It is a school for girls located in Çarşamba, Samsun which is a beautiful city in Northern Anatolia. The school was established in 1957 but restored many times and it is a well equipped school with a nice building. We are one of the best-known schools of the town due to its good quality of education and the great success in university entrance exam. There are about 450 students, from the 9th to the 12th grade, between the age of 14 and 18.
We offer classes of Social Sciences, Mathematics, Computer Science, Foreign Languages (English and German), arts and Sports in 9th grade and food and drink services, graphic and design, clothing, ICT, crafts and preschool education in upper grades as profession. Even if we have English classes in each grade of our high school, the pupils don't have the chance to practice as they are stuck in this little town and there are not many tourists visit here even if it is exactly a part from heaven. Although our students are really skillful in arts and sports, they can improve themselves as much as they see and unfortunately they are limited with this town because they can not go even to other cities. And thanks to this project, our pupils will have the chance to improve their language and art skills, to go to partner countries, to know new people, to learn about new cultures as it is obvious that they can not do any of these by themselves or with their poor economy. And this project which is linked to tourism and ICT is exactly for our school as we already have food and drink services and ICT departments in our school.
We want to prove an interest in the cooperation with other European schools in order to broaden our perspective, improve the quality of teaching, learning and school management. We are also interested in enlarging our perspective concerning different teaching methods and approaches such as interdisciplinary teaching, thus opening new perspectives for our teachers and pupils. Learning about different cultures and civilizations will enable our pupils to become more aware and tolerant towards European countries, especially now when Turkey is about to be a member of the European Union and it is our priority to contribute to the participation process of Turkey to European Union, to ensure that our pupils become active European citizens in future and to help the students become the adults of a multicultural inclusive society.

Šolski Center Slovenj gradec, srednja ekonomska šola
Slovenija
The School Centre Slovenj Gradec (Šolski center Slovenj Gradec) consists of five schools and these are Grammar School, Secondary School for Medicine, High Vocational College, Secondary School for Woodwork and Catering and Secondary School for Economics.
Our school-Secondary School of Economics is visited by some 210 students and is situated in Slovenj Gradec, a small town in the North of Slovenia. It has had an educational role in this area for over fifty years and it has a very good reputation.
Pupils visiting our school will be future shop assistants and economists. Vocational programme for shop assistants lasts for three years and the secondary technical economics programme ends after four years. For pupils who want to continue their education after three years, we also offer two more years of education, so they can become economists. And in most cases they take advantage of this possibility which greatly affects their future career.
Besides the framed curriculum (foreign languages, Slovenian,Geography, History, Mathematics, economic subjects, Biology, Chemistry, Gym, Art,...) we also offer a lot of free chosen activities such as visiting the theatre, rock concerts, trips around Slovenia and in the neighbouring countries, riding, camping and so many more. I am very much confident that most of our curriculum is connected with the project Dance and Folklore because it connects Art, History, Geography, learning foreign languages, especially English which is popular among our students and they speak it quite fluently, especially those visiting the four-year programme.
The region where our school is situated is actually in a disadvantaged area named Koroška. This specific region has suffered a lot of unemployment for some years, not just a few if we bear in mind the world crisis. The population is mainly working class and a lot of companies have gone bankrupt lately. So the rate of unemployment is very high, more than 10 per cent and people can hardly make their ends meet. That is why in this particular project kids will get a very much needed opportunity to meet other students and possibly travel to one of the participating countries, too. And we strongly believe that with this particular project we will expand the understanding of other Europen perspectives such as art, folklore, the history of a particular country as well as its geographical scope.

Istituto Professionale di Stato per l'Industria e l'Artigianato "Galileo Galilei"
Italy
Our school is a vocational school specializing in Electronics and Telecommunication, Electricity, Mechanics, Thermal Systems, Graphic Arts and Advertising.
It is situated in the central area of Sicily which, in spite of its great potential (tourism, arts and crafts, local food and wines)is one of the most depressed regions in Italy. The unemployment rate, in fact, is one of the highest in the country. As a result, many people are forced to emigrate for a living.
Our students belong to socially and economically disadvantaged families, who are unable to support them in achieving higher educational and professional standards. We also have migrants, especially from Eastern Europe and North Africa and pupils with special needs. A great number of students are at risk of social exclusion and have a very few opportunities of both cultural stimuli and entertainments of a meaningful cultural level. Lots of them spend their free time doing irrelevant things such as chatting or playing games on the net, hanging around, rarely involving themselves in constructive activities. Some others live in contact with intellectually poor or violent environments which sometimes lead to bullying.
As regards our role in the project, our school is equipped with different laboratories including an audio music studio and it is a "Centro Risorse Territoriali" ( Local Area Resource Centre ), that means it is open to the local community and organizes a wide range of courses both for adults and young people. Our students will benefit from the participation in the project as they will be consciously involved in different kinds of stimulating activities which will arise their motivation, promote responsibility and tolerance while providing them with good opportunities of meaningful and aggregating forms of entertainment. Besides, the purposeful use of English and the ITC will, definitely, reinforce their competence in both fields. Finally, coming in touch with different cultures and traditions will increase our students' awareness of being European citizens and their understanding of intercultural values, as well as their own.
